El Alga seca es una de las verduras del mar más utilizadas en la cocina Coreana. Se le conoce como comida sana, ya que contiene una cantidad significativa de ácido algínico, que impide la absorción de grasa y disminuye el nivel de sodio en su cuerpo. Rico en fibra dietética, y también ayuda a prevenir el estreñimiento. Las algas secas también conocidas como kombu se utilizan generalmente con anchoas secas para condimentar el caldo.
